FHEQ Level 7 (Masters)

Module Outline

This module aims to provide students from diverse backgrounds with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles of conservation biology. Beginning with an overview of the major threats to global biodiversity, the module will delve into a range of broad conservation themes. It will examine key issues impacting biodiversity and global sustainability, and within this context, explore strategies for conserving species, habitats, landscapes, ecosystems, and the planet. Through case studies, students will gain insights into real-world conservation challenges and develop problem-solving skills essential for addressing these issues.

Module learning outcomes

Demonstrate a systematic knowledge and understanding of the biological principles behind the conservation of species and habitats, including the main threats to survival and how these threats can be managed

Critically analyse and assess different approaches and methods for the conservation and restoration of populations and habitats

Integrate, synthesise and critically assess the conservation implications of research findings from the primary scientific literature
