Module Outline
This module focuses on current issues in conservation. Topics are introduced in lectures while seminars highlight current issues in conservation biology. Topics include, but are not limited to, intensive farming practices, rewilding projects, national parks and protected areas, invasive species and issues in marine conservation. In this module you will strengthen your critical thinking from integrating material from multiple sources and develop written, oral and graphic communication skills.
The series of seminars will highlight presentations on current issues by students working in groups and will be connected to individual assessments. The exam will cover two essays on the lecture material
Module learning outcomes
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of current issues in and approaches to conservation science.
Critically evaluate and communicate current conservation science methodologies and data to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
Demonstrate the ability to learn and work effectively and independently whilst conducting an independent investigation to advance understanding in a topic.
Synthesize knowledge and present information through a variety of visual and written media.
