African Zoology Field Course (C7153)
African Zoology Field Course
Module C7153
Module details for 2025/26.
30 credits
FHEQ Level 6
Module Outline
This is based at research sites in southern Africa, which provide you with the opportunity to study terrestrial animals, including some of the charismatic megafauna. Following an introduction to the sites, you carry out a fieldwork research project to investigate the behaviour, ecology or conservation of African animals. The rich biological diversity of southern Africa, and the conservation challenges this presents, makes the region an exceptional place to learn about zoology.
Module learning outcomes
Research, synthesise and utilise the primary scientific literature to generate zoological research hypotheses
Identify appropriate scientific methods to test the hypotheses generated in LO1
Select and apply appropriate scientific methods to collect and analyse field data to address specific research questions in African zoology
Present and critically analyse zoological research findings
