Module Outline

This module will introduce students to the practice and principles of long-form features and elements of digital design. Students will research, source and produce journalism in a range of formats and explore different approaches to digital design. Throughout the module, students will be encouraged to engage in self-reflective critique of their professional practice.

Module learning outcomes

Produce, sub-edit and manipulate digital content demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the techniques of designing, manipulating, editing and production of journalistic copy for print and digital media.

Deploy originality in the application of the knowledge of the techniques of designing, manipulating, editing and production of journalistic copy for print and digital media and demonstrate autonomous planning and execution of tasks to tight deadlines and in line with professional legal and ethical requirements.

Demonstrate an ability to complete editorial assignments, ethically, independently and within the law

Critically appraise and reflect on their individual professional practice.
