Module Outline

The chemistry project will consist of two original 5 week investigations, normally in the general area of chemical synthesis and analysis. Students are expected to design their projects in consultation with a relevant member of faculty. Exceptionally, students will be permitted to do a single 10 week investigation but greater depth will then be expected.

Module learning outcomes

Analyse in-depth current knowledge of 1 or 2 specific topics in chemistry

Evaluate critically articles published on a specific topic in chemistry

Demonstrate skill in formal report writing and oral presentation

Demonstrate a degree of independence in a laboratory research environment
