Module Outline
This module describes the various theorems, methods and techniques which form the basis of theoretical and computation quantum chemistry. It will start with the foundations and theorems of quantum mechanics, and then will cover operators and matrices in quantum chemistry. The module will introduce techniques of approximation including the variational method and perturbation theory. The solution of the electronic Schrödinger equation under different approximations will then be explored, providing a comprehensive, critical, understanding of computational quantum chemistry methods applicable to chemical research.

Explain and deploy the important techniques of quantum chemistry to current problems.
Solve and analyse theoretical chemistry problems both numerically and analytically.
Demonstrate a knowledge and critical understanding of the principles underlying methods of computational quantum chemistry.
