Module details for 2025/26.

15 credits

FHEQ Level 7 (Masters)

Module Outline

The Research Project in Quantum Technology is a major undertaking conducted under the supervision of a faculty member or postdoctoral researcher, requiring a substantial degree of independence. Through this research, MSc candidates will engage with a new field of study, develop proficiency in relevant research methodologies, and apply appropriate tools specific to their subject area. The project is designed to enhance the student's understanding of modern Quantum Technology.
Furthermore, this research project serves as the first practical application of the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the MSc programme. The culmination of the project is the production of a substantial research thesis, which constitutes the final deliverable for the degree.

Module learning outcomes

Systematically understand and critically evaluate key aspects of a new field of research.

Carry out a research project autonomously and creatively, demonstrating problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Write a clear, comprehensive, and well-structured dissertation that effectively communicates research aims, methods, results, and conclusions.
