About the award
This award is designed to support Sussex-based businesses and residents in building confident, capable leaders who can drive innovation, manage change, and create meaningful strategic impact. Rooted in the strengths and ambitions of our local community, the award is designed to develop leadership talent that contributes directly to the growth and resilience of Sussex’s economy and organisations.
You are eligible if you are either:
- an employee of a Sussex-based organisation
- a Sussex resident working for an employer based anywhere.

Application deadline
To join the MBA in September 2026, apply by 1 September 2026.
To join the MBA in January 2027, apply by 30 November 2026.
Flexible funding
The Sussex MBA offers flexible funding pathways, making it easier for organisations and individuals to participate. Options include:
- employer sponsorship
- cost-sharing arrangements (such as 50/50 employer and employee)
- self-funded study for professionals investing in their own development.
Awardees of the Sussex Leadership Development Award are expected to champion inclusive leadership, entrepreneurship, or sustainability by completing relevant activities during their course. As part of this commitment, awardees will:
- organise an event or project that enhances the MBA programme in collaboration with the MBA team
- serve as an MBA Champion, supporting recruitment activities and programme-related initiatives
- join the Sussex MBA Alumni Ambassador Network after graduation to contribute to alumni events and future recruitment. For more information, contact the MBA team at MBA@sussex.ac.uk.
If you are not eligible for this Award but are interested in joining the MBA, we offer an MBA Impact Scholarship of up to £5000. In addition, there are a range of scholarships for UK and international students. Use our database to see what is available.
