Autumn teaching
On this module, you’ll learn how to analyse:
- equity investments
- fixed-income securities
- foreign exchange markets
- commodity markets
- recent financial instruments.
You’ll explore:
- existing financial instruments
- equity investments
- financial analysis and equity valuation, key for making investment decisions
- recent financial instruments – including ETFs, REITs, ETNs and climate change contracts
- the foreign exchange market (spot and forward)
- different types of securities that form the basis of the interest-rate markets, associated with debt securities
- the commodity markets – such as gold and oil.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 33 hours of contact time and about 117 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
