Autumn teaching
On this module, you’ll explore a variety of topics in cognitive neuroscience and learn from active researchers and experts in the field.
You’ll focus research interests through self-directed presentations and study topics.
The aim of the module is to generate the ability to discuss and critique current cognitive neuroscience research through a general well-rounded knowledge of topics, methods and good practice.
Topics include:
- an introduction to methods
- neurophysiology
- memory
- vision
- emotion
- embodied cognition
- reward and decision-making
- animal and genetic models of cognition
- dementia
- event-related potentials
- individual-difference approaches to cognitive neuroscience.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 22 hours of contact time and about 128 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
