It’s possible to cycle to the Sussex campus. Riding a bike is a physical activity and you’re responsible for your own safety. Make sure you wear a helmet and bright clothing and that you have lights if cycling in the dark.

From Brighton

The cycle is about 25 minutes covering four miles. Depending on where you set off from, there are bike lanes some of the way. Once you join Lewes Road there are marked bike lanes most of the way to campus. This route is suitable for new cyclists.

From Lewes

The ride is about 30 minutes covering five miles. From the centre of Lewes, take Brighton Road and join the footpath near the Ashcombe Roundabout. A path straight to campus runs alongside and separate from the A27 main road. If you’ve cycled before, you can do this.

From Shoreham

The ride is about an hour covering just over ten miles depending on the route you choose to take. Most routes are flat and involve going through Brighton, at which point you take the Brighton route to campus. There are cycle lanes part of the way, so make sure you’re comfortable riding on the road.

From the Newhaven area

The ride is about an hour covering ten miles. From the centre of Newhaven, there are two routes: taking a country road west of the River Ouse through Southease and Kingston joining a path alongside the A27 to Falmer; taking the coast road through Peacehaven to Rottingdean and then climbing up and through Woodingdean towards campus. Both journeys are on narrow roads for experienced cyclists.

Driving

It’s possible to drive to our campus, but parking is limited and costs money. Check all travel options to campus

“If I have a test coming up, I’ve found the morning commute to be a great time to study using a flashcard app on my phone. This takes away the pressure to study in the evening once I am home (and very tired!).  Rhianon potter
